Good Habits & Positivity

Feeling good is often a feeling many of us overlook and forget about in the chaos that is life. It is however, something which is important and vital to our wellbeing.

It’s no secret that day to day life consumes us and leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to self-care and ‘me time’. Though it is not necessary to lock yourself away from all civilisation in the hopes that a bubble bath will solve all your worries and you will emerge a new being, you can introduce little tips and habits into your daily routine, which will enable you to take control of your life and the way you are feeling.


Start by drinking more. Not alcohol, but water. The more you drink the better you will feel inside and out. It can be difficult to keep up with how much water you have drank and should be drinking. A helpful tip is to keep a bottle of water in your bag, next to your bed, on your desk, wherever you will see it and remember to drink! This will ensure that you are never dehydrated as you work or complete tasks. Furthermore, you will notice your body temperature is more regulated, your skin appears clearer and brighter, no more sunken eyes and any tummy issues will start to improve. It’s a small thing, sure, but the affects can be huge and make a difference in your life.

Bloating can be a persistent problem in a lot of women’s lives. Are you avoiding certain clothing because of your impending bloat? It’s high time you do something about it. Bloating can leave you feeling deflated and impact the way you see and feel about yourself. This is something which fortunately, can be helped. You can implement small changes into your routine to help you feel less bloated after meals. Begin by eating smaller meals, eat until you feel satisfied not until you’re completely full and about to throw up your chicken korma. This is a mistake that a lot of us often make and contributes to bloating and feelings of lethargy.

Food intolerance’s are becoming a lot more common, if you find you are feeling bloated or having stomach issues after consuming certain foods, then maybe it’s time you check to see if you are intolerant to something you are consuming. Many of us will often put down bloat or stomach issues as normal, however it is anything but. Be aware of what you are consuming and how it is making you feel, it may well be that you are intolerant to something in your diet and cutting it out could make you feel all the better.


Bags, puffiness, sunken eyes, all of which are daily struggles we try to battle. The main reason for the above is usually something we yearn for when we are sat at our desks at 9:30 in the morning. It is of course, sleep! There is no exact amount of sleep that I can say, well ladies, if you sleep for this many hours a night, all your problems will be solved. The key to sleep depends on each person. Whilst some may function better on 6 hours sleep, others might be at their optimal at 8 hours. Be conscious about your sleeping pattern, do you wake up a lot? Are you struggling to fall asleep at night? These can be tell-tale signs about your health, just be sure you are not oversleeping as this will make you more tired, or under sleeping, which will also make you tired. Like everything in life, find your balance and what works for you.

A quick tip for under eye problems in the morning- pop a couple of spoons in the freezer. The next day, before you do your makeup or get ready, rinse them under a cold tap and apply gently under your eyes. This will not only leave you feeling refreshed and alert but also, help with any puffiness or dark circles.

Another habit that I personally try to keep to is to make sure I start my morning the way I want to. This may sound like something minuscule in the grand scheme of things but the way you start your morning has a knock-on effect on how your day goes. So, do whatever it is that makes you happy before going to work or starting your day. It can be anything from doing your makeup and hair to doing morning yoga in the garden, make sure that your day goes how you want it to.


Lastly, a change of attitude is something that we can often benefit from greatly. Take a look at what is important to you and keep that at the forefront of your mind. So much goes on in our daily lives that we can find ourselves bogged down in all sorts of unpleasantries. In the words of Marie Kondo, if it doesn’t bring you joy then let it go. This isn’t just for cleaning out your closet, but also for cleaning out your thoughts and whatever it may be in your personal, or work life that is disrupting your life. If you surround yourself with things that genuinely bring you joy, whatever shape or form, your mind will feel clearer and it will allow you to focus on the important things.

Don’t limit yourself ladies, feeling good and being the best version of yourself isn’t just about looks. It’s feeling better in your health and mind about who you are and what you do. There are so many opportunities for us to grow that we should take advantage of each and every one of them. Therefore, it is important to find out what it is in your life exactly that is causing you stress or unhappiness, so that you can change the things you don’t like, but you can control by forming habits that are fuelled by positivity and a genuine interest to grow.
